Well, it's a complex story, but I have a laptop with a few dead and stuck pixels.
The shop won't take it back unless it has 6 though, so I need to create some...
So, is there any way to do something like this? By stressing the lcd somehow?
Also, does anyone know a good laptop help irc channel I could go to?
Dead pixels are to LCD's as bad sectors are to hard drives. Nobody wants them or likes them, but sometime you just get stuck with one. In any case I agree with Ian that it wouldn't be a wise move to more or less intentionally attempt to damage your own equipment - I'd be willing to bet that if you were to read your warranty very carefully, that you would find it specifically excludes coverage for problems caused by misue or abuse.
I'd suggest you contact the manufacturer directly and ask for a replacement. After all, the issue was not caused by anything the shopowner did, and hassling him isn't going to do much good. Just my 2 cents
Thanks pevelius. That is a link to fix psp, but I guess it should work fine with LCD's. Since I bought myself a LCD screen, I'm scared that soon I will get those evil dead pixels and, judging by my luck the past years, I'm pretty impressed that I did not get dead/stuck pixels right when I open the box and still don't have any dead/stuck pixels
I've heard that if you get a stuck pixel, that you can apply a little pressure over the dead pixel as well.
