You see how addicted I am, It is 2 AM here and I am still posting
Hi Anisha,
Control yourself girl!! Get a grip!! Don't bang your head against the wall, it'll only give you a headache.
Believe me, it happened to me in the past that I stayed on LQ until 4 AM and later when I was helping out someone on the other end of the world. If it happens once or twice a month, no problem, but if you start falling asleep on your keyboard then you need to get control and just shut off the computer, get out and take a long walk or something. Maybe get a dog if you can and if you like them. The responsability that comes with a domestic animal can be pretty healing when it comes to kicking a bad habit (or in your case an addiction ).

I still remember that thread Eric and your helping attitude there. If I remember correctly, that boy had upgraded Ubuntu on his mother's computer and was repeatedly asking "how to get out of this black screen"
I was in the office that time reading your thread and enjoying your helping attitude and patience

Actually I wanted to have a tiger cub as a pet {And I am serious about this } but my family members do not allow it ! What to do ???
I have requested the (windows based) system admins to block that site on my computer. They said that the site blocking software license has expired so they cannot block any site anywhere now.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Hire some new sysadmins. I don't believe that they cannot block a few sites. Even with Windows.

Quite the memory you have Anisha! Glad you enjoyed the thread too
About the tiger, if you're really serious about it then just get it. Either your family will accept it or they will start to 'lock themselves in' as the pup grows
That would also solve the problem, doesn't it? And then you can go visit them whenever you want while the pup destroys your couch out of anger for leaving him/her alone

That is a really, really bad idea!!
First, and probably most important: You are talking about an endangered species (Tiger - Wiki)!!
Second: Taking care of wild animals, any kind of wild animal, is a full time commitment. You also need to have a good knowledge about that animal (how to take care of it, how to "read" it etc, etc). Being able to take care of a house cat doesn't make one suitable to take care of a Tiger....
And I do hope you understand that a wild animal is just that: Wild. At one point or another it will challenge its hierarchy position and you will probably end up in tears (if you can still cry after that attack that is).
I'm (very) serious about this because it appeared to be that you are as well. I would not have posted a message if you would have left the following out of your post: And I am serious about this.
And this: it is nearly impossible to fulfill my wish in the kind of environment I live in only tells me that you still might go after this wish if you would get the appropriate environment in the future.
In general and not specifically at you: Having a pet is not to be taken lightly, there comes responsibility with that and even much more so if you want to keep a wild animal as "pet" (which in general cannot be done...). A lot of people don't have a clue when it comes to having a pet: Feeding and petting them every so often isn't nearly enough to give that pet a happy life. And having an animal because it is so cute is the worst reason to have one.
I really hope you are just expressing a dream-wish and aren't in any way considering this for real.
I know I'm probably a bit sensitive when it comes to animals (nature in general), but looking around and seeing what people do to animals makes this justified and a cause worth fighting for.
Are you aware of the fact that Tinkster is watching the thread going off-topic
I am more scared of Tinkster as compared to Tigers

Kindly stop worrying I am a sensible person (though I say it myself ) I am fully aware of my responsibilities and my limitations too !
I ever I decide to take a tiger cub as a pet (which is again nearly impossible because of the various limitations of the society and my family), I will take into consideration all the points you mentioned in the above post. Then I'll think and rethink and rethink and consult you again before actually adopting the cub
Now stop worrying

I (kinda) believe you and do hope this wish will fade over time

Not when animals are concerned....
BTW: Don't worry about Tinkster, he's probably asleep atm

Please don't wish like this ! I love tiger cubs not because they cute but because I feel lonely and I'd like to have a friend of which I am proud of and which doesn't have a human mind
..... because I feel lonely and I'd like to have a friend of which I am proud of and which doesn't have a human mind
That I understand, probably better then you can imagine.....
Don't get me wrong, I don't say you (or anybody else) aren't allowed to have pets. They can be (one of) the best friend one has!
I've had pets all my life. 2 cats atm (I've always had 2 or more cats), I worked in a kennel with, on average, 28 Siberian Huskies. Trained them, fed them, stayed up all night with them when expecting puppies, raced with them and "fought" with them (Male huskies will challenge the Alpha dog on a regular base). I also had 2 myself, older ones that needed a good home for their last years and even those old ones could be a hand-full. But they were always honest in their ways and never played games with you the way humans can and will do. If an animal is happy it will show you, it will also show you when it is angry or frustrated (mostly the fault lies with the owner/caretaker), I love that about them.
But going from having a pet-friend to having a wild animal as pet-friend is were I draw the line. As already stated in my previous replies, won't bother you any further with that.
I do hope you find yourself a nice and honest friend (be it of the animal or the human kind)!!
