your question may sound reasonable but I suspect it is not possible to only delete some emails.
cron would be happy to delete all, but would you be happy for that to occur?
2) In case you are semi happy, where can you currently read them from with a text editor?
try /var/mail /var/spool/mail and see if your username exists, if so you should be able to associate a text editor to read them.....and then copy and paste those mails you want to keep and then have cron delete the lot.
3) however you need to report who is the owner of the mail box. use command
ls -la and post the output (not the mail) just the folder where the mail is.
then we can create a delete script with a new touch and new owner-permissions probably we will stick it in /etc/rc.d/rc.local unless your distro links /etc/rc.local somewhere else
