I have tried using lmutil lmhostid but windows says:
'lmutil' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Will the host id of a PC be same in both windows and linux? I have linux on my PC. So if by someway, I get to know the hostid there, can I use it in windows too?
This might be what you are looking for:
ipconfig/all
Quote:
Node locked licenses (only available on Windows) are normally locked to the "physical address" (or mac address) of the computer's network card. To get this enter the command " ipconfig/all " into a DOS-box and look for the line "Physical address" for the appropriate network card:
The host ID is the "physical address" with the "-"s removed, so in this example it is 00008642411c. Alternatively if you have installed the FLEXlm software onto your machine you can instead type " lmutil lmhostid ".
I am able to get the hostid of one of the PC with windows using the "lmutil". Now I have got to check if it will be same in both windows and linux.
But there is another PC which also has flexem, but doesn't give the hostid with the command. anyway, will get the hostid from linux and use it in windows.
yeah... you really threw me for a loop there... i so rarely *as in never* refer to the physical or MAC address as the hostid... i just wasn't familiar with the flexlm thing...
