I am thinking of buying Guitar Hero 3 with the guitar for the PS3, do you know if I can play GH 1 and 2 on the PS3 with the PS3 guitar, even though they are PS2 games? (Yes I do have a PS2 backward compatible PS3.)
I am after someone that actually knows for sure and has tried it, not some vague attempts at trying to answer with just whether my ps3 will play ps2 games or not as their only evidence. I just want to check that the wireless PS3 guitar will work with the PS2 games.
I've asked in other forums, and I usually get a flurry of questions about what PS3 SKU I have, and PS2 compatibly problems, but no actual answers.
Ummmm...This isn't the right forum for this dude...But luckily I have a PS3 and yes, the Guitar Hero 3 ps3 guitar works with the PS2 versions. As long as your PS3 has no issues playing the PS2 games( I assume it doesn't ) then you're good to go. I bought the PS2 versions of GH I and II when they came out for PS2 and then bought the PS3 version of GH3 and I still play GH II on my PS3. All you have to do is turn on the guitar( press the button to connect ) when the PS2 game starts. This forum is for LINUX QUESTIONS! Hence the name.
HA! Oops! I didn't look at that! Sorry if I sounded like a jerk dude. My bad. But anyways yes the PS3 guitar plays on guitar hero 2 and 1. Just beat Beast and the Harlot on expert about 5 mins ago...

No no, don't feel bad. I didn't quote that to make you feel bad, just to show it was fine to post completely off-topic questions on the general . I think you answer was great still. I was kinda curious about that myself, so I thank you too, since you also helped me, indirectly
why dont you just buy a real guitar? maybe you could become a real guitar hero!
I have two. A Fender Squier which I started off with (currently selling it) and a Les Paul standard Sunburst. Problem is, I suck really hard with them. I just don't have fun with them, at all. The Les Paul looks great in my living room, so I am keeping it and play a bit when I am bored. I had a lot of fun with my keyboard back in the high school days though. Guitars are just not for me. Either that or I should put more effort on them.
I don't understand why people keep comparing guitar hero to a real guitar. It is a GAME and it is meant to be FUN. So why waste time with flightgear? Join a pilot school and become a real pilot. I play Flightgear with my crappy joytech joystick because it is fun. I don't want to be a pilot (well, I wanted, but now I am just too old).
Again, Guitar Hero is a game. It is a plastic controller and it is meant to be fun. It is not a "Guitar simulator", for crying out loud. And maybe, just maybe, people who play Guitar Hero just want to have a fun party with a couple of friends and beers. Nothing else...
Distribution: Slackware 12.1, AND IM LOVIN EVERY MINUTE OF IT, JERRY! :D

yes your right ofcourse
I also 'play' flightgear sometimes, although I cant at the moment because my video cards screwed.
I like the look of 'smokin guns', that runs on the quake engine, I love westerns, Im waiting for the standalone version
Nice to see another Flightgear pilot around Thanks for the link by the way. That looks like such a sweet mod. I can't believe I never heard of it. I haven't played Quake 3 for a very long time, nor I believe I can find my CD in the mess my basement is .
Any chance that would run in OpenArena? That would be awesome. Standalone even better
I've played a few old western games back when I was a kid. Big fan of Gun Smoke (NES), Super Sunset Riders (SNES) and Lethal Enforces II: Gunfighters (SegaCD). I love the sound track in Gunfighters. I have the Games CD right here with me. I am sure you will love the sound track too
Thanks guys. That's a real help, now there is nothing stopping me from buy Guitar Hero III !! Game.co.uk have got it on special offer at the moment
As for a real guitar? I couldn't ever play that - I just don't have the time, skill or patience - GH is about as close as I am going to get, and despite my initial feelings, every time I've played it, I've enjoyed it.
Can you tell me, does it need an install, or is the install optional (Soul Calibour IV has optional install) to speed up loading times?
Hmmm...From what I'm reading at other places, the controller doesn't work with GH2...But mine does! All I do is press the button when it loads up. Hmmm. Maybe mine's special! I did buy it separate from GH3. I thought you could use the PS2 controller with it on the ps3. but you can't so i THEN bought the guitar. From EBGames online. So I'm not sure what's goin on. And with the install, no there's not an install. The only actual install is if you buy (or just get the free packs like me lol) from psn.
Mega Man X: I remember playing that game! It was amazingly BA!
And I don't play FlightGear...Only Microsoft Flight Simulator on the family's Winblows machine. My "craptop" (which is what I'm on) only has an 8mb graphics card with 512 MB of Ram.=(
