Just had a thought...

Is anyone writing NEW Dos games?
I am thinking that some of the early DOS games might be the easiest to port to Android (along with the other way, porting from Android to DOS) as long as they do not depend on the networking.

I don't think they'd be easy to port at all, unless you're using DosBox to do the port. Surely you know what DOS game programming is like?

The Simon the Sorcerer games did get Android ports though.

Dugan,
Do you have a WIP branch of your code changes published somewhere?

MS Flight Simulator 3 & 4. The former on the old IBM XT with 640KB RAM. The stuttering animation didn't allow much more than straight and level flight, let alone abrupt maneuvers. However, it was cool.

Ultima VII was way too difficult for me at the time, but how can you not want to try again when there are resources like this available? http://www.kxmode.com/U7map/

Anyone remember Vette?

I'm not really into simulation games, but that one was kind of interesting at the time.

Some of those DOS games can also be played online, maybe someone is interested.

Don't get me wrong but if it is not secret when are you planning to publish results?

Here's a preview.

The floppy, EGA version of LOOM as it usually is. Notice the dithering:

The floppy, EGA version of LOOM using the jinc2-sharper shader, which you'll be able to use. Notice how the dithering is now gone:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0qnbuv43b4...rper.png?raw=1

Both are full-screen screenshots taken on my MacBook. That's why they're so large (2560x1600).

If you watch GDCVault's LOOM Postmortem, it should become clear that the reason EGA (and Genesis and Mega Drive) game artists used dithering is because the monitors (and TVs) of the day displayed dithering as solid colors. Therefore, I'd actually consider a game to be incorrectly emulated if you see dithering as dithering.

It's ready.

The repository is here:

https://github.com/duganchen/dosbox

The documentation for what's new and different (and how to take advantage of it) is here:

https://github.com/duganchen/dosbox/...NHANCEMENTS.md

I've tested in on Linux and OS X. Windows support and prebuilt binary packages will come later.
