i used to be a stack rat in Ann Arbor ( U of M )

learning to use the card catalog and reference books, taught one to DO RESEARCH .

today it is WAY too easy to use JUST the first google hit --- and NOT fact check

but 90 of young-ish people seem NOT to be able to USE the worlds LARGEST library / Encyclopedia the NET

But library also contains fiction alot. So you can not say they are completely trustworthy.

Good question. If we are completely strict we can say they do not exist because we invented the symbolic word for building or place like room but..who knows.

Arcane that's a good point but ask yourself why there is a fictions, non-fictions and religions sections?

Some of the non-fictions can be wrong but you could prove and\or dispute that with the other references or new facts...

Yes, I believe in libraries, however I shake my head seeing that you can rent dvds and musical cd. What about books?

The captains of industries back in the day, like Andrew Carnegie, also believed in them and built beautiful ones for the general public to use.

Its too bad the modern day captain of industries don't invest back into the general public. They don't have to care anymore, because they don't have to.

In my city library, the occult books and the programming books have adjacent dewey decimal number blocks. The selection of both is often small enough that the occult books and the programming books are on the same shelf.

I see from bus rides some neighbor*\hoods have free libraries for kids, an interesting idea. Though probably riddled with religious spam... (but I guess what's not these day$?)
