computer audio question.

I would like to hook up my guitar/bass to my computer, perhaps filter, alter, or augment the sound before it is redirected to the ampilier. In order to do this I need to ........ and that's where my question is. I didn't really know where to post this, so I found it a home here. Thanks

Lackluster,

To link your instrument to your pc, you need a audio input device, that can handle the high impedence connection - something like sb live platinum or Audigy with live drive at a bare minimum. Other sound cards such as the digi solutions could work, but most of their drivers are focused towards Micro$oft or Macintosh O/S's. Once you have the sound card working under Linux, you will need to find audio solutions which will allow you to add effects to the audio stream. Most applications of this type once again are focused on Micro$oft or Mac. But since you must be dual booting with XP, you should not have too many problems with compatibility.

Pro audio have solutions for this, as well as providing some plugin effects and synths that can be used, $$$ is all that is needed.

If you need any info email craig_lawer@hotmail.com I wil try to give some advice - USA has major companies dealing with Audio.
