cheap (or free) music store?

Anyone know of a good cheap-and-or-free music store? It would need to have a large library, be cross-platform, and really cheap orfree.
any ideas?

Check out http://www.jamendo.com/en/. There also is a rhythmbox plugin for it. I have also been partial to emusic.

@alred: for me, it just needs to have a large library
@macemonta: I've heard of them, but the problem is, my parents(minor, high school), won't give any money unless they're recommended by a magazine or something (article in lxf, ad in popsci, etc.). of course, if such a thing exists, then point me to it please.
@petespin27:nice! I've also tried emusic, but they locked me out of my account after my downloads expired .

I thought all kids knew all about that sort of thing. I am certainly not going to recommend anything of questionable legality, which is what it sounds to me like you're asking for ...

But, you might look around at some sites like p2p.net

I have looked into p2p, but suffice it to say, I'm not going further into that than idolator and songbird.

AllOfMP3 sells music pretty cheap, 25cents and lower. You can get a full album (15 tracks) for about $1.5 sometimes.

Magnatune is a record label. They have been written about in many articles: Linux Journal, USA Today, Wired, and many others; Google is your friend.
