I use my laptop on battery since during use , i dont have much access of AC power.I usually use about 60~80% battery. Is it Ok to put it on recharge for 6~8 hrs, like when asleep? will it cause any harm to battery?
The battery will wear out more quickly, but, in the scenario that you present that seems inevitable. It might be better if you could charge it in smaller increments, though.
you should NOT run batteries at all below 50% of charge .
the exception to this is nicad and nimh batteries these batteries like a good work out .
the less you discharge a battery from full charge the longer it will last .
the charger built in to the laptop will not damage the battery at all ever
IF you can get an inverter and run it on that as much as you can.
Since your batteries are Alkali based - Emptying out your battery before recharging them to full power (and repeating it all over again!) will ensure that you're batteries have much longer lives!
