Thumbs down Cant get Sata to work

Hi there!

I've finally finished to build my new PC. It's nothing fancy, nor top of the line, but it's better then the one I had. The only problem is, it does not work .

Here is a picture of my motherboard:

http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=19734

and the Harddrive I'm trying to make it work:

http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=16703

So, let me describe you what I have done. If you look at the picture of the motherboard, you will notice at the extreme left of the card, beneath the PCI slots, is the Floppy connector. I've connect the floppy cord into it and it seems to be working. No problems there.

The two blue connectors on the down-left most of the picture are two IDE's slots. I've connected my CD-Rom (master jumped) on the first IDE. No problems there, apparently.

Now, onto the problem. The two tiny black slots near the CMOS are the Sata slots. I've connected a Sata cord from there to my HD (from the link above) and tried to connect the power cord to the HD either from a Sata-like cable, and the same power cord when used on the CD-Roms, IDE devices. Problem is, neither Linux or Windows can identify the HD on it.

Statement: Running the Bios, The CD-Rom is identified as the Primary Master IDE, so I guess the problem starts there.

However, pressing tab during the boot process runs a RAID application which actually identify the Maxtor HD correct and it's size (about 120 GB).

Question: What am I doing wrong and how to I configure a Sata HD? On the motherboard manual, it stands that in order to enable Sata, I've to go into my bios >> peripherals and make sure that "OnChip SATA Device" is enable ( and it should be, by default). I can't find that option either way, only IDE Device under Peripals.

If you see anything that I'm doing wrong, please tell me. I've already lost two meals and my pants feels a bit loose trying to figure out why this does not work

Thanks in Advance!

P.S: This is my first home-build PC and I'm proud of it. not proud that it's not working, but not toasting anything (yet) is quite of an accomplishment for me, LOL.

P.S: I'm putting this on the general, since I'ts not quite Linux related. In fact, I want to actually install Windows first in that machine

OK, I've managed to fix it. It turns out that Linux did, identified the Sata hdd without a problem (SuSE 9.1 Pro - DVD, for the record). In Windows, I had to install the drivers during the Windows XP installation. Problem is, the drivers I got from the manufacture did not work. I went to their homepage and copied the drivers, and re-ran the Windows XP installation. Everything is flying now

Regards!
