I installed xming + XLaunch on my desktop. Per suggestions from peers, I updated my putty saved session with following settings:

1) In the ssh --> X11, I enabled the checkbox for Enable X11 forwarding. In the X display location box, entered the IP address of my desktop and 0.0 as

xx.xx.xx.xx:0.0

2) Ensured the xming is running (There is a large X at bottom right corner) on my desktop.

3) Started the putty session with settings in 1 above. Started a GUI installer program. I get the error

Xlib: connection to "localhost:11.46" refused by server
Xlib: PuTTY X11 proxy: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 data did not match
The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.


I did review other threads on the forum and tried different settings for display variable. But no luck with getting the GUI installer launched.

Looks like a windows problem to me; goes to GENERAL.
