I'm glad you are a very fast "hunt and pecker".

Advocating that touch typing is unnecessary and unneeded just dosn't fly.

Just cos your 47 doesn't preclude you from learning new skills. My father in Law is turning 70 this year and is busy finding out all about Linux!

I found that using ktouch really improved my typing. At first it slows you down as its hard to remember which key is under which finger, but persevere as soon you find you are tpying lines without looking at the keyboard. The best thing for improving speed is when you get all 10 fingers involved!

But as other point out don't be too obsessed about using the fingers they tell you, just be consistent so you can do it without looking.
