Booting the Vista Beta 2 DVD

I just tried to install Vista on one of my computers, but the install disc will not boot. The disc would work on another computer (although I didn't install it), but not on this one. This computer has a DVD drive, but there is no setting in the BIOS to put it ahead of the CD drive.

How do I get my computer to boot the DVD drive before the CD drive, hard drive, etc.?

There's just no other way to do that (as far I can tell) if you don't have that option on the BIOS. You could maybe unplug the CD-rom drive. Maybe then you will be able to boot from the DVD-rom unit.

Hmmm. I'm too lazy to unplug the CD drive right now. I'll just install it on a different computer. Maybe I'll unplug my CD drive tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.

You're welcome. I hope you get it to work. And I'm with you in this one. I hate to open my computer and unplug stuff ^^

Wait a minute, something must be wrong with the this Vista release. I just tried it on my laptop which has a CD/DVD combo drive and it still didn't work. It just brought me right to my GRUB menu.

So far, I've only gotten the DVD to work on 1 out of 3 computers. And I can't install it on the one it works with because that's not my computer.

I've gotten the DVD to boot using the same image that you gave me. I can't get the install to go though. I put in the CD KEY and it says "Setup failed to find Windows Image" and the install cancels

Oh. Perhaps the image is corrupt.
