Auto-email in DOS?
Totally non-Linux related, but I need some assistance ...
I have a rather unique situation, at least in my experience. We are using a program that is able to monitor it's own services, and perform certain tasks when an event occurs. In this situation, a service is stopped, and is supposed to restart, but does not. We are working with the vendor to fix the issue. However, for the time-being, we need to know when the service stops so we can restart it in a timely manner.
So, the program is capable of running DOS-mode commands. In this fashion, we would like to configure it to send an email upon the calling event.
I found that issuing the following command "start mailto:<email address>" will start the default email program, such as Outlook Express. But the command only opens a compose window, and does not automatically send the email.
So, what we need is a command or utility that can auto-send an email with a single DOS command.
Any ideas?
