I was going to suggest that too, but it looks like they have changed their ideals, now using Arch instead of Debian, & seem to only have graphical distros.
I recall trying Linux BBQ once before a few years ago.
From what I recall, it is command line debian with several different desktops.
They don't have command line apps installed. That is left to the user. So it is not a full command line distro, it is just the base install of an older version of Debian.
Here is a very useful link with Linux docs., I have seen this link on and off for years but never really studied the docs. well.
In reflect this home built P3 with Antix on it is like a swiss knife, doing amazingly well on the web, I installed this 14 months ago almost, trying this well only today after my P4 with Puppy Linux started giving issues. Glad I decided to try it.
For some unknown reason Puppy Slack 6.3.2 xwindows crashes soon on open. Reconfiguring Xorg.conf didn't help. It appears this was an issue more with
that OS, I must have realized this long time ago and googled for a solution.
This I didn't and had lots of issues with time, mainly with browser.
Yesterday, I installed the latest puppy OS called xenial puppy that is
based on Ubuntu. This booted and worked excellent on my P4 server.
The default browser on it Pale Moon works excellent with web. They
have some very nice puzzles that fit my liking and no FPS. Lastly, there are
a lot of optional programs that one can install if needed, I will explore all
these more slowly with time. I will still continue to use my old OS as it
has different programs for many things I use and am familiar with.
Will only use xenial puppy if more recent browser is needed. This
is quite a happy development at my end.
The latest adipositas is also called Nox, however the screenshots for it do show a gui. It also says watch youtube videos etc., This is not possible in command line, so guess they got rid of that CLI alone distro perhaps due to low interest.
Glad that they atleast tried it.
Yes, I did read it, there are a few CLI tools but not all of them. It does have several different shells. However, Bash is most popular, even learning this takes time.
I read the above also. It is certainly a very interesting distro, several basics are provided and the rest is left to the user to explore. It will be interesting to play around with this and try on my P3 Desktop. I have lots of space on it still.
I will also give it this, it seems to come as close as a distro possibly can to a CLI only distro.
I have gotten LinuxBBQ long time ago but used it only little. I can't be into old PCs and deny this wonderful OS for all that it offers. Think, I will DL it to my P3 in near future and play around with it a little. It is good to have all the different shells it offers also, grab and keep what is available.
After DL, the md5sum was checked to be OK. I tried to extract all the files in above LinuxBBQ iso after mounting it to a folder called LinuxBBQ in a partition on my P3 desktop and then attempted to boot from grub. It gave severe root mount, other errors and then took me to an ash prompt.
This seems similar to kernel panic. Now normally, burning such an iso to CD or DVD doesn't change things and even if booted from the media, it will very likely give the same error.
