@rtmistler - You do understand that during prohibition caches of alcohol were similarly guarded with machine guns and that ceased once prohibition was repealed, right? I submit the danger is in the law itself which is unconstitutional at best on the most basic level. It is not the job of government, especially Federal Government, to arbitrarily "protect" people from themselves. It surely is none of their business to dictate what we can own, especially to come between us and our health, including our judgement of what makes us healthy provided we bring no harm to others. The house to which you referred, which I totally agree is an abomination, existed not for drugs or getting high but for money, the high profits that always follow contraband and the laws that create the risk of contraband. Remove the law, remove the money, remove the threat.
@fixit7 - You are correct. Further conversation with you on this subject is useless since you consider William J. Bennet an oracle of wisdom and fact. This is the same Bennet, I imagine, who was Secy. of Education under Reagan and who wrote books about self-discipline while losing millions of dollars gambling and who once stated that the crime rate could go down if all African American babies were aborted. Thanks but no thanks.
