Using 'noapic' to overcome black screen
Hello,
I have recently installed FC6 i386 on my laptop. Unfortunately, having installed the relevant drivers for nVidia for my GeForce Go 7200 card, which I know work, I still get a black screen after start up if I don't supply the 'noapic' kernel argument. This is regardless of booting into runlevels 3 or 5. I am running an i386 kernel rather than x86_64 despite having an AMD Turion 64 bit dual core processor due to problems with Eclipse.
Unfortunately, this noapic command seems to be affecting my USB ports in that some of them will not work.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to get round this noapic argument e.g. maybe changing Xorg.conf file?
Thanks in advance
