Installed fedora hangs-up on startup

Hello
I'm newbie and I have problem as follows:
I installed full fedora 4 (7GB);
Installation was successfull.
But after the boot it logs some information on tekst screen
finishing with something like:
"setting computer name localhost.localdomain [OK]"

After that I have "bare" text cursor and I can type anything but
without any reaction. After reset situation is the same.
Machine is hanged.

I've never seen "setup manager" which I expected to meet at first start.

What may be the reason?

Machine spec:
Athlon XP on Asus A7V8X (VIA KT400), 512 ram
24GB for linux with ext3 format
2GB for swap

It sounds like a problem with your X-configuration, wrong driver or something like that.
When you get to "the "bare" text cursor" - I believe it's a login prompt. Login as root, press enter and type in roots password when asked for it.
Then post output of
# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# lspci
You can save it to a file with:
# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf > /myxorg
# lspci > /mylspci
Those two files will be stored directly under /, you can of course type in any existing directory.

hmm...
Login prompt? I'll try but with faint hope.
Cursor is really bare - no prompt, no messages like "bad login" or sth like that after I typed sth and pressed enter.
Anyway thanks for advice.

Additional system behavior:
Being hanged for about one minute it does sth witch CD-rom. For a few seconds turns it's LED on and off and then does nothing for infinity
