Fedora Core - installation problems

I'm trying to install Fedora on a hard drive specifically to hold only Fedora. The installation runs smooth up to and including entry of the root password. After entering the root password, a message appears indicating that it's installing the packages, and then it stops installing. About 5 - 10 minutes later, an error message appears indicating that Fedora does not support my PC. I've tried both the graphical and text installations without success. I've tried a Voodoo 3 video card & removed the sound card & modem, and it will not install. Here are my PC's specs:
Motherboard: AOpen AX59PRO
CPU: AMD6-K2-500 MHz
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse PS2
RAM: 256 Megs
Sound card: SB Live
Hard drive: Maxtor 20 GB
Video: Diamond Viper V770 (RIVA TNT2)
Modem: AOpen FM56-PM
NIC: Netgear NC100
LG CDRW 32x10x40x
LG DVD 16x
Any help that you can provide to install the software would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. May1950

This is just a wild guess on my part.

There have been problems where Linux destroys LG hardware. Maybe Fedora put in a check to prevent installing on a system that has LG hardware. If you have a different brand CD-ROM available try taking out your CDRW and DVD and substituting the other brand CD-ROM.

Steve - Thanks for your reply. Last night, I successfully installed Mandrake 8.1 with the LG devices without any problem. As you suggested, I also tried another CD ROM (ACER 665A, 6X) to install Fedora, and it would not instlall [same problem described in my initial e-mail). It's possible that the motherboard maybe the problem.

Regrads,
Ron
