Fedora 2 Installation Failure (Computer Reboots)

I am pretty new to Linux, and I have been trying to install Fedora Core 2 on this somewhat junky computer I have (Compaq ~PII, ~300mHz). I want to put only Fedora on the hard drive (~3GB); no dual booting or anything. So I downloaded and burned all four of the install CDs and booted off of the first one. I went through the steps, and it started installing. After about an hour, it prompted me to put in Disc 2, so I did that and it continued installing. Then, at some point, the computer rebooted and the message "Error loading operating system" is displayed. I tried reinstalling everything again, and exactly the same thing happened. I searched the forums and other people have had similar problems, but I couldn't find one quite like mine. Any ideas?

going by what your computer is, i think its a problem with your RAM or maybe even the lack of it. Since you're new to linux i'm going to assume that you will want to run it in graphical mode. Frankly, a distribution like Fedora Core 2 would need at least 256MB of RAM to run in graphical mode. If you did a media check on all your cd's and they turn out ok, then its most probably something to do with your hardware. try linux memtest86 at the bootable cd prompt. The fedora installer checks your RAM and reports any problems.

I did 12 hours and 25 min. of testing using memtest86, and it had 56 passes and no fails. Lack of memory still might be the problem though. I'll try to experiment with more memory, more hard drive space, etc. and report back here afterwards.
