FC 3 install - won't even start

So I've totally deleted windows from my one computer and wanted to put FC 3 on it. I downloaded the FC CDs from the fedora project website and followed their install instructions. The instructions were put the 1st FC CD in and boot from the CD rom.
I did this and nothing happened.
My computer gave me the message you get when there's no disk (I forget the specific message)
I tried burning another CD incase that one had errors and the same thing resulted. I'm sure I burned it probperly because I could see in the CD the files that were on there after I burned it.

I've also since reinstalled windows to try and do a dual boot (which I don't think I really want to do, but I guess it doesn't matter to me. And I can't get the CD to begin installation there either.

So, anyway, it seems that my computer refuses to boot from the CD rom...
is there any way around this?

thanks
-Mike

PS. If you haven't noticed I'm completely new to this

I'm sorry, I just saw a thread asking almost the same thing that I didn't see when I was looking before.
I'll try what was suggested there when I get home.

So I've finally got time to try this again and I've found that the reason it won't begin loading, and that is that my computer won't boot from the CD-Rom. (I don't know why, because I went to BIOS and set it to boot from my CDRom and I think I remember loading windows in that way).
But the disk I have now (the Musix live CD) boots up on my friend's computer but not mine.

I think my only option is to create a boot floppy, but I don't know how to do that.

The instructions I found online was to go into Musix (on another computer) and type "mkbootfloppy" this didn't work. "mkboot" was a valid command and I figure that the instructions I found are supposed to say "mkboot floppy"
but when I try to specify the floppy drive (It was my friend's computer I tried it on) I kept getting error messages that the floppy drive didn't exist or it couldn't find it.

I also found other instructions on making boot floppies which said to copy the appropriate files from the live CD in the "boot" folder. But I couldn't find anywhere that would say what the appropriate files were.

So... any help I can get putting linux on my computer would be amazing.

Thanks
-Mike

PS. I know I said I'm trying to get the Musix distrobution working, however I'd be really happy with Fedora Core 3 or 4 as stated in my original post (I heard 3 is better for music because 4 still had some bugs with audio drivers).
thanks
