I am having an issue with XFCE 4.2 and its "SMB Network" browser part of xffm. Every time I click on it to browse my Windows Network it gives me the error, "No master browser found." I can get rid of this error if I disable my iptables filtering, and it will also browse the network. I have tried opening up ports 137/138/139 both udp and tcp to allow the browse with the iptables running. But I have had no success. I also had this issue with XFCE 4.0.6 (the default that comes with Fedora Core 3).
Let me clarify. I HAVE 4.2 already installed. The issue is when I try to browse a Windows Network. I recieve the "No Master Browser Found". I have tried opening port 137/138/139 (the ports used for Windows File Sharing and Network Browsing) in my firewall, but it does not work, I still get the above error. But if I shut my firewall off I can see the entire network no problem.
