Xen Kernel - FC6 & F7 Causes Hyperspeed

Hey all,

I've been messin' with virtualization lately, and I would love to see what Xen has to offer.

However, upon installing and booting into the Xen kernel, the cpu runs at hyperspeed: easily 5x its 'normal' speed. Whether this is considered 'overclocking', or not, I don't know, but it's, obviously, not right.

I've scanned the logs, but I honestly don't know what to look for. Nothing seems suspect to me.

I had the issue, originally, with FC6, and I was hoping that somehow, an F7 install would 'magically' correct the issue, but it hasn't, so I'll turn it over to you folks, and we'll see what comes up.

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with 1GB ram, not sure atm of the processor speed, other than it's a Centrino - will edit this later with more precise specs....

cheers,

What/how exactly are you measuring this "hyperspeed"?
What is the output of:
# cat /proc/cpuinfo

I'm guessing your CPU throttles? Does the 'cpu MHz' value change?

As far as what constitutes 'hyperspeed', and how it's measured....um, well the speed part, for example, the system clock sped ahead by 45 minutes in the 10 minutes worth of real uptime I had.

Upon booting into the xen kernel, the system messages scroll by rapidly, rather than at a leisurely, readable pace. The mouse cursor, hourglass, desktop load time, keyboard speed, etc, are all hyper-amphetamine-ish.

cheers,
