where is db_load in Fedora Core 1

I had vsFTPd Virtual Users working in RH9.
I'm now trying to set up the same in Fedora but even though I know DB4-4.1.25-24 is installed , I get " bash: db_load: command not found."
This step is needed to convert a text file into the PAM logins db.

Any ideas why the db command is unavailable ?

Thanks.

may not be in your path, try specifying the location /usr/bin/db_load

thanks for the suggestion ezra143,

I think my path is ok ;

PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin :/root/bin

but when I look in /usr/bin there's nothing "db" related.

Querying the package gives this ;

[root@server root]# rpm -ql db4
/lib/libdb-4.1.so
/lib/tls/libdb-4.1.so
/usr/lib/libdb-4.1.so
/usr/lib/libdb_cxx-4.1.so
/usr/lib/tls/libdb-4.1.so
/usr/lib/tls/libdb_cxx-4.1.so
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/LICENSE
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/README
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/api.gif
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/next.gif
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/prev.gif
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/ps.gif
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/ref.gif
/usr/share/doc/db4-4.1.25/images/sleepycat.gif
[root@server root]#

is that enough ?

I've worked it out ....

The install gave me the main db4 RPM but not the db4-utils RPM which is what actually delivers the commands.

I'm sorted now.

how do i install the db4- util

hi,
i have the same problem as malrich did and i tried to install the db4-utils but it did not work out as i planned. i am pretty new to linux and i have been using
rpm -Uvh filename
which gives : Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:db4 ########################################### [100%]

to install the db4-utils. There were several versions of db4-utils and i grabbed the one from
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/fedora/...-3.1.i386.html
but i do not have much idea as to why db_load command is still not installed. when i enter
rpm -ql db4
i still get the same result as malrich,
is there something i need to do ???

thanks
mm

moorman,

as far as I can remember , it was just the case that db4-utils is a pre-requisite for the main db4 package but Fedora Core 1 hadn't installed the utils package.
The db_load command was available after the utils package was installed from the Core1 discs.

I might have a go a Core 2 someday soon.
