I got a USB scannar (HP 4070 photo smart). My machine is detecting it i have seen proper entry in lsusb, dmesg. But I don't know how to access it in Linux.
After hotplug my HP scanjet 4070 scanner ,i typed xsane on my terminal,it is showing a window with message "No Devices avilable".
And more i ddn't get any new entry /dev. (like sdg.../dev/scanner).
But my lsusb out as:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 03f0:2405 Hewlett-Packard
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
It means scanner is detecting. But why its not showing /dev entry and not allowing me to access through xsane or kooka.
And morever /var/log/messages out put as
Dec 3 18:47:32 localhost kernel: usb 1-7: USB disconnect, address 2
Dec 3 18:48:51 localhost kernel: usb 1-7: new high speed USB device using address 3

I forgo to post this stuff
]#sane-find-scanner out put is.....
No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make
sure that
you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [hewlett packard], product=0x2405 [hp
scanjet]) at libusb:003:003
Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be
supported by
SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
Not checking for parallel port scanners.
Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
can't be detected by this program.
You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
necessary.
