Upgrade FC4 - FC5 using yum, fails with initscripts dependency

I am trying to upgrade to Core 5 using yum, as detailed on this page:

When I run the yum upgrade command, I get two dependency errors, kudzu and initscripts. The above page mentions the initscripts issue, and recommends "booting into the latest Fedora Core 4 kernel, removing all previous kernels, and running yum upgrade again". So, how do I do that? Any pointers will be much appreciated.

Try 'yum update kernel'. Then reboot into the new kernel. If that works OK, try 'rpm -q kernel*'. This should give you a list of all the kernels you have installed. Remove all of them except the most recent one by typing 'yum erase kernel-<version>' where <version> is the number of the kernel you are trying to remove.

Argh and yikes. yum update kernel just gives a whole load more dependency errors. I may have to upgrade from the CDs.
