Trouble accessing files on flashdrive in Fedora Core 1

Trouble accessing files on flashdrive in Fedora Core 1.
I recently installed Fedora Core 1 on my laptop. I have a list of commmands for Linux and we just started working with Linux at my college class, but I have a lot to learn. I don't even know how to find the flashdrive!
Please help.
Thanks.

Fedora Core 1 was released in November, 2003 and is totally outdated and unsupported and your flash drive is not likely to work. The current release of Fedora is Fedora 16 which you can download from their web site.

Fedora 1 Jumpdrive trouble

What if I go into applications:///System Tools///Hardware Browser? When I do, I'm given a list: listing 9 devices. One entry is USB devices. I don't seem to be able to perform any actions on the Hardware Browser screen, but it gives me information: selected device: 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB. Driver: usb-uhci
Can't I go on the command line and do a mount command using the info I found?
My laptop is as old as Fedora 1, that's why it works I guess. I'm not on-line with the computer yet. Really, I'm just using it to learn about Linux.

I think an important factor is pointed out above that relates to your situation:

So how old is it? What's on the flash drive?

My purchased my computer in the year 2000. A pdf for a role-playing game is on the flash drive.

I ended up burning the pdf to a DVD and getting it onto my computer that way.

I knew I could find a way. Many people on this forum focused on the fact that my version of Fedora is so old. Doing that didn't help me solve my problem.

If you're 'working with Linux at your college class' you should have access to a newer, supported version of Fedora, or another distro. The poeple who told you that fedora core 1 is out of date were just trying to help you.

Using out of date, out of support versions of any OS is a security risk. It will make your life harder in other ways (e.g. repos disabled, etc.). The 'out of support' issue is going to pop up again if you look for help with another problem in the future.

I cant see any good reason to use such an old version. Maybe, just maybe it would make sense if you _have_ to use fedora, and your computer hasnt got enough RAM or CPU power to run newer versions. But then you'll have problems anyway, things have changed since 2003.....and linux in general has gotten easier since then. Make your life easier, install a newer, support version of fedora. Or if your computer is too low on RAM/CPU for fedora 16, get a different distro that is currently suppported.
