Lightbulb Tip for Gnome 3 navigation and app switching in Fedora 15

If you have recently done the upgrade to Love Lock (15) and are lamenting the compiz-fusion incompatibility issue,
A: play with the interface, it actually will do a lot of the nice things the "cube" does.
B: Try installing "Docky" via yum (i.e., sudo yum -y install docky), which allows for quick switching between apps.

I made the switch from 14 to 15 the other day and thought I would go nuts over the seemingly never-ending crashes. Turns out that compiz and Gnome3 really are not good bed-mates!

Also, if you move your cursor to the far upper left hand side of the desktop, it will go quickly to "Activies".

Compiz and the GNOME Shell do not work together. The GNOME shell uses its own compositing manager called Mutter which based on Metacity and Clutter. Compiz is also a compositing manager, hence the problem.

yah, I did figure that out after a little research, which i should have done in the first place! This is why i posted the "try Docky" thread as some people where complaining about "too many clicks" to switch between apps. Gnome3 may not like compiz, but it plays very well with Docky and allows for one-click switching between apps. Thanks for the reply!
