t3gah:
My Internet access is unmetered, so is effectively free.
The CD burner I use for burning audio CDs (the purpose for which it was bought), so again is effectively free.
The blank CDs I'll grant you cost me. About a quid. A cost which I am able to absorb without noticing.
The machine I run Linux on runs 24/7 anyway (it's my FTP server, as well as my desktop machine), so electricity is a non-issue.
I had to learn how to use Linux to do my University course, so there was no additional cost there either. That's pretty much immaterial, as I enjoy learning about computers, so it would have been a gain for me, not a loss, if I wasn't required to learn Linux anyway.
All the hardware I'm using with Fedora C.3 works out-the-box.
Yes, t3gah, I spent some money getting my Fedora distro. About the cost of a Big Mac. Had I used some CD-RWs I have lying around just for the duration of the install, then my additional costs would be zero.
Anyway, even having paid for my installation media, I have still saved a considerable amount of money, so my statement
Quote:
I think I'll go and get drunk with the money I saved by not having to pay for my operating system and software.

pretty much stands anyway.
