Question Sound in Fedora 2 (Post-Redhat9 update)

OK, so I spent 3 days and 2 failed downloads getting Fedora2 got it to install over RH9 and now...the sound card can't be found (at /dev/dsp). I'm a bit of still and need help. I was previously running Kernal 2,4... now its 2.6 I'm not sure which may have caused this. So..yeh, if anyone knows whats wrong, please help me.

--awl

Edit:
Code:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
Is what I get when I try to apply settings in the Sound System in Control Centre (KDE 3.2)

so you updated rh9 to fc2? that in itself will cause problems. aside from that, are your sound modules getting loaded?

in console as root: lsmod

and did you upgrade the kernel or do a fresh install? upgrading a kernel is _BAD_ always do fresh installs of new kernels.

OK, I've clean installed FC2 and its now PARTIALLY working. KsCD is the only program I've sofar been able to get using the sound-card. If I try to do a test in Control Centre I get no errors, but I also get no sound, although aRts Control Tool shows there is output.

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Device or resource busy)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Keeps coming up...any ideas...anyone?

PLEASE
