RPM: How do you extract just one file from the package?


I need to extract just one file from an RPM package, is it possible or will I have to convert it first to tar.bz2 or tgz? Thanks!

Try

rpm2cpio myrpm.rmp | cpio -i somefilename

Yeah,, well,, where do you get rpmcpio.rpm downloaded from?

oddly enough it comes with the distro

However all I get is the number of blocks the file (I assume) occupies. Nothing more.

I almost kill myself... you can "see" the contents of an RPM with file-roller!!! Freaking awesome!
