For some reason, even though i elected to install mysql and PHP at time of install (FC4), PHP was configured with the --without-mysql flag. I've installed php-mysql RPM, but PHP still refuses to forge a mysql database link. Because i wasnt the one doing the installing, i have no idea where PHP (or for that matter, apache or mysql)'s binaries are hiding. Any suggestions on my next move?
If you have the mysql.so php extension installed then make sure the line is not commented out in php.ini
If you are using php as an apache module then you will need to restart apache for the changes to take effect. Creating a phpinfo script will let you see if the mysql extensions have been loaded.
There wasnt a line in php.ini at all... i added 'extension=mysql.so' to the file, saved and rebooted the machine (cant find the apache binaries at all...)
SOMETHING changed on the info page, but i honestly have no clue what, because i was watching the --without-mysql flag. That flag is still there.
PHP's Info (phpinfo() page shows --without-mysql . What i'm getting confused by now is:
I can declare a mysql_connect statement and actually get a Resource Id back, but whenever i try to reference something from it, the page dies. Doesnt throw an error, doesnt skip the instruction and continue with no data, it just *dies*, stopping all html output.
