No Sound Solution - BUY NEW PCI Sound Card?

I have spent 3 weeks trying to get my sound working with FC1.90.

Could the simplest solution be just the buy a new PCI sound card. Would this take precedence over the on-board sound? I can do a hardware compatibility search, then buy the cheapest sound card.

That's about how long it took me to give up on my guillimot trying to get it to work with Quake II. I would look at the HCL and pick one out of that list.

I picked a SB on sale for around $20.00 or so.

Linux can be picky about its hardware.
