Question Need Info on How to Install .src.rpm file

I want to install sane-backend-1.05-4.1.src.rpm. I am hoping that it has the missing files I need to get my scanner working.

$ rpm -ivh sane-backend-1.05-4.1.src.rpm

and check the output at /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES. The tarball for sane-backend should be in that directory.

But if you want to rebuild the rpm and reinstall it, you may want to try the rpmbuild command ..

$ rpmbuild -bi sane-backend-1.05-4.1.src.rpm (IINM - Not tested)

In addition to the above, I've always used the following command for source rpms:

rpmbuild --rebuild package-name.src.rpm

Then somewhere at the end, you'll see a line saying:

wrote: /some/path/to package-name.rpm

Then just change into that directory to install it. Hope this helped!
