MySQL

Hi, I'm trying to install MySQL-server 4.1.3 that comes in a rpm package. But when I type rpm -ivf MySQL... in the console it returns:

warning: MySQL-server-4.1.3-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 5072e1f5
error: Failed dependencies:
MySQL conflicts with mysql-3.23.58-4
MySQL-server conflicts with mysql-server-3.23.58-9

Even, when I type:
rpm -ivf --force MySQL-server-4.1.3-1.i386.rpm
It returns the same text.
So I tried unsuccesfully to uninstall mysql 3.23 but it returns that there are failed dependencis with:

libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) perl-DBD-MySQL-2.9003-4
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) mysql-server-3.23.58-9
mysql = 3.23.58 is needed by (installed) mysql-server-3.23.58-9

Could anybody help me please. Thanks a lot.

You can use --nodeps to not check dependencies or you could just remove the old versions.

You should know that the rpm manager has three distinct installation methods: Install (-i), Upgrade (-U) and Freshen (-F).
The -i option relates to a new installation. The -U and -F are suitable for installations over existing ones, like in your case.
The -U installs the new version and then removes the previous one. The -F also upgrades an existing installation, but only if there's a previous version installed.
