mp3 problem in Fedora Core

I'm using Fedora Core 3 but no multimedia software program in it plays mp3 songs. I have mp3 songs covering a space of 13GB in windows but i cannot play it in Fedora 3.
Is there any way to play them in fedora other than converting all these songs to vorbis format.

NO XMMS in Fedora Core 3???
If there is XMMS, then there would be a patch for MP3..as well....

If you want to convert your songs to vorbis(ogg), then convert all of them in windows using dbPowerAmp and keep them in that format because you can play it in winamp and also in XMMS (or any player applicable in Fedora)...

Get dbPowerAmp at
http://www.dbpoweramp.com

ALL THE BEST..

Do a search, I'm not doing it for you but there are a whole lot of threads around here around this and I'm pretty sure it's easy to fix.

As per release notes and their website, Redhat refrains from shipping any proprietry format support out of the box.

However it's available afterwards

Yum is an excellent package manager on FC4,

yum install xmms-mp3

what up with FC4? he is running FC3...

but yes
$su
#yum install xmms-mp3
should do.. but if you cant install via yum - i coudnt first time used fedora (and linux) cuz yum needed a key i cant remember the name off (and no the "get-key" cmd didnt work) - you can find the rpm here:

hxxp://heidelberg.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=402 (dont forget to change xx to tt

and then - as root
#rpm -Uvh xmms-1.2.10-9.1.1.fc3.fr.src.rpm
and restart xmms..

also if you come from winblows, you might wanna play .wma files..

Fedora not adding mp3

Fedora and red hat does not put mp3 functionality into their music players due to legal issue.
You can find xmms at freshrpms.net then search google for xmms-mp3.

"xmms-mp3" is available from the Livna and the FreshRPMS/Dries repositories.
