Mouse not detected in FC2 installation and another query

I have downloaded all 4 ISO images for Fedora 2 Core from redhat site. I have following two problems:

1) I have checked all the MD5 values, no integrity problem. But when I performed the Disk integrity checker in Fedora installtion process, it says "Disk check status: FAILED". why this is happening? All the MD5 values are correct.

2) FC2 installation does not recognizes my Mouse. I have Pentium III 800 Mhz, 256 MB RAM, Logitech 3 button mouse, 40 GB hard disk. My Windows 2000 is detecting the mouse properly. Why not FC2?

I had the same problem, with fedora 2 not recognizing my mouse, I lost my mind and after two days of working around the problem (which I did solve), some guy comes to LQ and posts a solution

So here it is.

Go to your BIOS (hit DEL at reboot)

Find a line somewhere that says USB Legacy support or something like it(USB Legacy).

Disable that. It should work fine after that.

Good luck!

Peace!

What is in your modprobe.conf file? If your mouse has a light, is it turned on?

When I moved from RH9 to Fedora 2 (by doing an "upgrade" install), I wound up with modprobe.conf as an empty file, and several other files having been built. In particular, one called something like modprobe.conf.anaback had the configuration lines necessary for modprobe to activate my usb mouse and kb, and also my NIC. I fixed the problem by simply renaming that file to modprobe.conf, and then running modprobe.

It's a new installation

I performed a fresh installation.
