KDE4 Problems - no task bar, desktop too small, bad font path, khotkeys/knotify4 die

Greetings. I'm working from a Fedora 9 fresh install, and am having problems KDE4 working properly on my multi-head configuration working. I've looked for answers on-line, but haven't found anything that helps. Hopefully someone here can point me towards a solution. Thanks!

Some background:

I had a perfectly-working Fedora 7 system. My first attempt was to upgrade that system to Fedora 9. This didn't work out so well, so I wiped out the OS and did a fresh install. I built a basic xorg.conf with system-config-desktop, and have been adding to it for the additional screens.

My system has four screens across three devices. The first (primary) is a CRT connected to an NVidia 6150SE card. The second is a CRT connected as screen 1 to an NVidia 7300 GT. The third is an LCD TV connected as screen 2 to that same NVidia 7300 GT. The fourth is a Hauppauge PVR-350 running a frame buffer.

When I configure just the first two screens, KDE starts fine -- task bar and desktop show up.

When I add the third screen (the LCD TV), KDE starts, but there is no task bar and I get this in the .xsession-erorrs:

What seems unusual to me here is that khotkeys is trying to connect to a server at :00, :01, and :02. I would think the correct X server would be :0.0, :0.1, and :0.2, for the three screens.

When I configure the fourth screen (the PVR-350), I get the same sorts of errors, PLUS KDE seems to think that the desktop on the primary CRT is 640x480 (approx). The task bar shows up, but it's in the middle of the screen, and extends about half-way across.

I've tried:

- Googling, but can't find any reports of a similar problem
- Removing my ~/.kde, /var/tmp/kde* and /tmp/kde*, but the problem comes right back.
- Running system-config-desktop and nvidia-xsettings, but they make no significant change to my xorg.conf.

For reference: here's my xorg.conf as I'm currently running (with 3 of the 4 heads enabled):

# nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
# nvidia-settings: version 1.0 (buildmeister@builder58) Thu Jun 5 00:09:03 PDT 2008

Try KDE 4.1. 4.0 is dead on arrival. Good Luck, Michael
