I've installed java like described in http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...otes.html#Java , but it doesn't work. When trying to test java, I just see blank. Before installing, I saw a firefox message saying I need to install java. In mozilla, I have java in plug-in list, but it doesn't work either. I have correct java path in my $PATH and $J2RE_HOME ( opt/jre1.5.0_04/... ). I've also tried linking
libjavaplugin_oji.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, ,/usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.8/plugins/ and /usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/plugins.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks
mabey it's in the wrong place or u linked it incorrectly, i just installed Fc4 and put in java last night. the java page gives an example of an installation folder: /usr/java . so that's where i put mine i'm then as su , cd to /usr/lib/mozilla(or mozilla-1.7.8 or firefox-1.0.4)/plugins and created the symbolic links. it works fine for me but i get no sound like when i'm in a yahoo (java) pool room/table. hope this helps u as i'm verry extremely new to this, and these forums, well, i couldn't even consider switching over to linux w/ out them.

I think FC4-64 is problematic as far as using the plugin with your browser is concerned ... Java based programs work fine, but no plugin. I've read some realy convoluted solutions which mainly seem to involve tricking FC4-64 into using the 32-bit plugin. I can wait, myself.
