Jack can be weird

I've set up my machine and everything works well, but a little bug is driving me nuts. My machine is set up for an audio workstation. I've installed the software from CCRMA. When I fire Jack it loads and says its rolling and everything seems fine. All the meters work well but have no sound. Once I go into the system menu and select soundcard detection while Jack is running, sound comes right out of the speakers and all is normal. This happens with all the kernels that I have installed (which are the original fedora and ccrma low latency kernels).

I don't know whether there is a change that the system is making (although, I don't know where since I do have sound through other applications only when I run jack there is none)or what; or if there is a way to force the system to run the script at startup or something of that nature. I think there is a line that can be added to one of the scripts to lock the current configuration but I can't find on the net anymore. I had done a search and can't remember the site.

Any help would be appreciated.
