I have downloaded "Fedora-16-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso" and it has landed as a directory. I want to make a live USB stick but when I try to use the included script it complains that it is a directory. Does anyone know a way out of this?
yes that was the sorce i used. The directory seems to contain the right sort of files - 3 more directories : EFI, isolinux, LiveOS and a file called GPL. The isolinux and LiveOS directories contain some .img files.
OK thanks - that should shut me up for quite a while! However a very quick scan does not reveal how to deal with my problem. The script "live-cd-iso-to-disk" included in the LiveCD directory when used as described in its "help" bails out with the message "Fedora-16-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso is a directory".
I was hoping maybe someone had successfully used this method to make a USB stick install.
I have already read that page and tried some of the methods. I have not yet given the dd method a go because i wanted to use the overlay feature to give me a persistent installation.
Even if I use dd I suspect that the directory structure may not be set up correctly for booting the device.
i have downloaded a new iso and it works fine using dd to copy it to my flash drive. I have no idea what was wrong with the first try which came over as a directory dot iso.
Using dd however, i cant make a persistent live image. I wonder if its possible to download the fedora live usb creator to my current live fedora system and create another version with persistence.
