make the file executable, easy as that.
ie
Code:
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd
or whatever the file is called/located

If you installed the web server as part of your normal package select at installation, you can see if its running with the:

chkconfig --list

If its not, then you can turn it on with the chkconfig command. Once on, it will automatically start up and run at boot.

Hope that helps,

Larry

this is what i meant if you have access to the graphical interface

Go to "Desktop" > "System Settings" > "Server Settings" > "Services". Type in your root password in the dialog box that appears and click on "OK". Scroll down the list and check the check box for "httpd". Click on the "save" icon in the Service Configuration window and then close the window. Do this for runlevel 3 as well as for runlevel 5. Reboot your machine.
