How to get video to play on Fedora c1 ?

Hi all from a Linux Newb. (running fedora c1 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl )

I just joined what looks like a great Linux Forum.

First of all, I have a msi kt600 mb with a xp 2200, 256 micron pc 2100.
Lite on 32x burner, Nvidia g4 440 64 megs, Epson c64, 40 gig max 7200.

In my 3 or 4 weeks since I installed Fedoar c1 I learned how to get my printer to work.
Down load the Nvidia 3d drive to so I can play UnrealT4, Get my Fuji 1400 digital camera to work and even getting a usb smartmedia card reader to work. I can now play Mp3's as well.

What I'm having trouble with is getting Video to work. I downloaded mplayer and I blieve it installed cause I can go to a web site on mozilla with video and it will load up, but not play.

I just installed the rpm -i the mplayer plugin, so I see there are more stuff to do on the how to, but this newb does not understand the directions.

Also, I'd like to install Xine. I downloaded xine-0.9.23-1.fr.i386.rpm and after trying to install it, it said I need libba.so.1, libxine.so.1, xine-lib=1.0.0.
I read the directions on the xine site, but it makes no sense to me.
Another thing is, wheat is the .386? I believe I have 686 on my fedora c1 install.
What is the difference between .386 and .686. Intel platform ?

Any advice on how I can get video to work on here would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks.

Mitch

my advice is not to use rpm but yum instead:

for watching videos I recommend totem:

Thanks for the replay Slacktom, it's appreciated..

I finally got mplayer-1.0-0.9.20040415.1.fc1.fr installed using Yum and I ever got Xine installed as well and both are working great...

I believe both came from FreshRpms...

Thanks again..
