Hi, i am using putty in my windows machine to connect to the fedora server in my network. But the problem is that with putty i get only a terminal(Command driven) and i want to have a graphical one with the mouse and everything! I could have used the remote desktop but i do not want to prevent other persons from using the server. Is there some program that enables you to have a remote graphical terminal to work on?
Thanks i'll try cygwin. I know abt vnc but i don't use it because it prevents the other user from using the machine and many people cannot run different appls at the same time on differant windows!

That's actually a limitation of Windows, rather than VNC - Linux allows multiple desktops/users at the same time, either with X or VNC.
Hey thank you very much for that one! That really helped! At least now i'll not bother anyone while configuring the appls! lolz! Is this possible on windows via an external appl? If so please tell me it could be helpful also!

Windows supports multiple desktops if you activate "Terminal Services". Unfortunately this feature can only be enabled on the Server versions of Windows - that's the limitation that restricts VNC on Windows to just one desktop.
Hi All, am stuck! I have done everything that was said in the document given by Hob, and am able to get a screen now but hte problem is that i get only a black screen with the cursor. Can you help me on that one?
Ok, I found out the problem. I had to do chmod 777 on the file .vnc/xstartup
I am now able to get the gnome desktop.
How do i set the default desktop to kde or xfce. is there a menu item that i am missing here? i don't want the desktop to be for vnc only but for the user even when he log-in normally.
