Exclamation Home Directory Rights

Hi, I am running Fedora Core 3 without SELinux and I am looking for a way to set the default rights for newly created home directories for new users. I need to add execute to all, resulting in rwx--x--x. I've heard that umask may help in some way...not sure. I've looked at the /etc/skel file, no solution, and I don't find anything in /etc/default/useradd. Any ideas?

You need to change the default umask. In SuSE the default umask is defined in /etc/profile. I think that Fedora also uses /etc/profile for the user default umask.

Here is how umask works:

I think that the actual default umask is hard coded and can't be changed, but I added the -m option to useradd and it created it with the rights I need to start with. Thanks much!
