Hey bud, sorry about the long time, in responding. I only read the threads at work
But, I started with Slackware some years ago. I then switched to RH. I haven't turned back since.
RH pro is outstanding. The install was as painless and automatic as M$.
I had debates with my friends some time ago about Linux not being able to capture the user market because of the technical ability needed for basic user functions. I don't see this as a problem anymore. The only obstacle I see in LINUX becoming the end-user platform of choice now, is gaming. I boot up Linux daily now, and use Open Office which I think is adequet to perform the essential user tasks ( spreadsheet, word processing ) that's all I usually need. I was surprised at the suite of applications that are now included.
MP3 player, GIMP ( which has been around for some time ), CD player, and tons of other goodies.
I've booted up Linux, and my wife started using the apps, from the start menu, with no adjustment or coaching. She usually uses M$.
I haven't looked at all the applications available, I'm an old school Linux user. Give me an XTERM window, VI, and stat monitor, (CPU, MEM, & PS) and I'm usually happy.
