GRUB clarification needed

I want to install Fedora Core 2 on an IBM laptop that has the Winblows 98SE backup information on a hidden partition. I may still need to use Winblows on this machine for a while so I can't lose this. I went to the GRUB FAQ and found the following:

Use the command map, to exchange BIOS drives virtually, like this:

grub> map (hd0) (hd1)
grub> map (hd1) (hd0)

Am I correct in assuming that if my hidden partition is on hd1, when I want to use that partition to re-install Winblows, then I use the above to change the boot order?
If not, can someone please direct me to the section of the FAQ or manual where I can find what I need?

Thank you

no, a drive map won't help you. what that will do is make windows think that the primary slave which contains windows, is actually the master drive, so windows will still work. but you're not actually booting windows, so it's of no use. or do you mean in the future you will want to dual boot? if that's where you're heading then yes it'll be involving that, and also a few other options, like "chainloader" which will run the bootstrap process for windows.

Thank you for your response. I guess I should have been clearer with my intentions.

Yes, I will be dual-booting this machine.
What I MAY want to do in the future is re-install Winblows. IBM took the cheap way out and put all of the re-install data on a hidden partition that I can activate by hitting F11 during the BIOS startup. I have heard that GRUB may make that partition unusable, so I want to find a way to force GRUB to recognise this hidden partition.

Any ideas?
Any hints as to where to look for information would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I am using Fedora Core 2 because I bought the book a while back. I searched for this kind of info in the book in vain, which is why I'm scouring the net.
