firefox 1.0.4 on fedora yum repositories

Hello everyone,
I'm just curious why there isn't an package for the latest Firefox update (1.0.4) available on the Fedora Core yum repositories. Is it just a matter of time or do I need a add some better repositories?

Just a thought, any clarification would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

but it's more convinient since there are people "always watching" for updates and stuff.. I think it is in some repo.. can't remmember which one.. how many repos have you set up? #?

It is far more convenient plus you keep your system consistent by using rpm packages so that you don't have to keep up with all software updates yourself.

For repositories, I have the ones that come preconfigured with Fedora Core 3, the FreshRPMs repo and the livna-stable repo. As I understood it, these last two are among the best out there. Can you recommend some more? Thanks for your replies.

Launched up2date today and saw that Firefox 1.0.4 was available for my FC3 box, took three attempts but finally got it installed.I'm on dial-up and my isp dropped the line once then on the second try about a third of the way got an error message stating that "the signature didn't match that of the file being d'loaded" "file could be corrupt or tampered with" "do you still want to continue" I don't think so,then on the third try it went well and here I am.

sure thing ... Dag weever's and many more like freshrpms-update - which is a separate repo from the fresh itself also well I'll post the URLs if u like when I have my file infront of me.. fedora-extras is good also for java apps there is a couple and ATrpms just msg me for the urls but consider that USA and EUR repos have to be used separately you know.. I think fresh is from the EUR group and Livna,Extras, and fedora are the USA for sure

I have upgraded today to FireFox 1.0.4 with apt-get, it must work with yum too, from here:

I guess it was just a matter of time for them to repackage it into an rpm. Thanks to everyone who answered though.

To johnnydangerous: If you do get the time, posting the details for those repositories would be helpful to me and probably many others. Thanks!

# This is a yum.conf for Fedora Core 3.
# It uses Fedora mirrors to make things faster,
# since the main Red Hat Fedora site is pretty slow.
#
# Also, if you look down in the "Alternate Repositories"
# section, you'll notice some disabled repositories.
# If you want to use them, just do:
#
# yum --enablerepo <reponame> <command>
#
# Where <reponame> is the name of the repo, and <command>
# is your normal yum command.
