Fedora update font problem

I have Fedora Core 2 installed and I update all the packages with yum. The KDE system fonts, that is, those on the menu lists and most everywhere else have suddenly become a very ugly fixed font.

I have delete all the . files and directories in the home directory but that didn't help.

How do I make the fonts go back to something reasonable?

Thanks

Peter
